HUDSON YARDS, NEW YORK -
Leaders from the indigenous territory of the Xingu in Brazil's southern Amazon and scientists gathered to raise support and funding for the preservation of the Amazon rainforest from deforestation. The event called Amazon Hope took place at a modern art gallery called Affirmation Arts in Hudson Yards, New York City on Friday, October 11. Through presentations and a public reception for an art exhibit, Amazon Hope aimed to raise donated funds and public awareness about the ecological issues of the Xingu region where wildfires are some of the worst in the Amazon. As wildfires in the Amazon increase, the event aimed to strengthen a partnership between indigenous groups, scientists and artists to save the jungle and the culture of its native people through conservation methods involving technology.

A “dream team” of experts will discuss collaborative projects that are integrating indigenous groups in the Xingu River region of Brazil and linking them with the outside world to create a barrier against the acute threat of environmental degradation.
