Amazon hope collective (AHC)

The AHC has provided support for the Kuikuro since the outbreak of the pandemic in March. Efforts have included providing support to people returning to the village; securing supplies including food, gas, soap, and cloth for masks; adapting village structures for quarantine; and hiring on site doctors.

For the first time in 50 years the Kuarup has been cancelled in the Xingu indigenous Territories due to to COVID-19 and the high risk of contagion. The Kuarup is the biggest ritual in honor of the deaths among Brazilian indigenous people.
