Liter of Light is a global, grassroots movement based in the Philippines that is committed to providing affordable, sustainable solar light to people with limited or no access to electricity.
Through a network of partnerships around the world, Liter of Light volunteers teach marginalized communities how to use recycled plastic bottles and locally sourced materials to illuminate their homes, businesses, and streets.
By empowering local communities to build their own solar lighting, mobile charging systems, and street lights using plastic bottles that they can find in their own towns, Liter of Light helps to reduce the waste stream that contributes to flooding and devastation from storm surge. In the process, they give these communities the tools to be able to stay connected and safe, even in the wake of disasters. This is what we call Pennywisey!
