1 Vote counts
1VOTE COUNTS educates incarcerated individuals, returning citizens and others living in at-risk communities about voting rights and how voting can impact neighborhoods. The organization's long term goal is to create a pipeline of BIPOC community leaders who become committed to the electoral process and using it to demand positive change. 1 Vote Counts conducts voter registration inside and outside of correctional facilities, holds educational seminars and helps bring people to the polls on election days.
1 Vote Counts has a targeted, strategic approach. Because they focus their voting advocacy on a particular- and particularly neglected- group, they have a large impact within that underserved population. Pennywise values their clear eyed vision and plans of action for breaking harmful cycles and moving, instead, towards positive change.
